I had the absolute pleasure of spending three unforgettable days in Arba Minch (2–4 June), guided by the wonderful Talelign and driven by the ever-capable Abale. From the moment I arrived, they went above and beyond to ensure my experience was enjoyable, safe, and culturally rich — even as I was recovering from a bout of “African Belly”!
From village visits and traditional rituals in Dorze, to a serene boat ride on Lake Chamo spotting Nile crocodiles and baby fish eagles, every moment was made special. Local guides joined us along the way, each bringing deep insight and storytelling that added rich context — especially in Gamole Village (Konso), a UNESCO World Heritage site. The ancient stone terraces, community pride, and timeless traditions left a lasting impression.
Abale deserves a special shoutout — the roads were often chaotic and full of surprises, but his expert driving made every ride feel smooth and safe. His calm confidence and quick reflexes turned a potentially nerve-wracking journey into something I actually looked forward to. Better yet, he happily took over photo duties at every point, grabbing my phone and snapping away so I could stay fully present and soak it all in.
Meanwhile, Talelign ensured everything ran like clockwork — from airport pickups to hotel drop-offs, meals to excursions — all with an easy going, professional approach. Nothing was too much trouble. On 4 June, they even arranged a special side trip just so I wouldn’t miss seeing the baboons!
And yes — let’s not forget the soundtrack. Between the views, the laughter, and the reggae beats coming through the speakers, they made sure I felt truly immersed in the rhythm of Ethiopia.
If you’re considering a trip to this region, don’t hesitate to ask for Talelign and Abale, they come as a team. Their professionalism, warmth, humour, and attention to detail made this one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. I left feeling deeply connected to the land, safe as a single female traveler — and like I’d made two new friends along the way.
    Highly, highly recommended.
